Sweet Sunday Sketch - #126

Heeellllooo Bloggers!! It has been quite a while since I did a post and there have been extenuating circumstances that have kept me from blogging or crafting for that matter. I won't go into it here as it is rather private and to do with my family but I have not felt much like crafting for some time. Today I had to teach a private scrapbooking class and decided to work on a couple of sketches after my student went home. I looked for a challenge or two and found Karen's Sweet Sunday challenge which I used to do on a regular basis with my friend Sherry. What better way to get back into the swing of things. I had so much fun making this card and it did take some time as I am so anal about where things go etc lol. Below is the sketch we were to follow. . . .

And here is my card following that sketch. I really love how it turned out. I used The Timsters Vintage Shabby paper pad and Basic Greys Out of Print 6x6 paper pad. I used SU cardstock, inks, and pom pom trim as well as the eyelet border punch. My flowers are from I Am Roses and I cannot do without these flowers now. The stamped image is from Kaisercraft and the sentiment is a SU one.

Okay until the morning that is all from me tonight.

Paper Blooms Guest Design post

I was asked by Leah to be a guest designer for the Paper Blooms challenge blog for this month and I jumped at the opportunity. If you haven't participated on this blog before then why don't you give them a go it is a wonderful blog. Leah makes her own crocheted blooms and butterflies and she sent me some to use on my cards for this month. Today the challenge was Monochromatic so I chose to make mine white and may I say that this is the very first time I have created an all white card and I love it!!!! I used my Victoria, Swiss Dots and Paisley Cuttlebug embossing folders to create that look of texture on my card. The Swiss Dots is used on the scallop oval. I wanted this card to be soft, feminine and elegant, therefore I chose to use Ranger Tea Dye distress ink instead of a harsh colour like black or red or similar. I used my brand new Oval All stamp set from SU. I have to say I love how this card turned out. I used my crocheted butterfly on the upper right side giving her two Kaisercraft rhinestones at the tip of her antennas.

I look forward to seeing what you all create this fortnight and I hope to see heaps more people taking part in the challenge from here on in. I promise you will not regret it.

New Products arrived from SU

Today my Stampin' Up! order came and I opened the box up and thought this is so pretty lol I decided to take a pic before I touched anything. Underneath all of the supplies there are eight packs of A4 cardstock assorted and two packs of 12 x 12 designer paper. Oh my I had such a great time unpacking everything. I purchased more tools of the trade this time as I am getting ready to make video tutorials once my video camera comes so I wanted to have as much SU supplies as I could afford. I even bought a Fiskars trimmer from SU so I could use it in my videos but I already have a Kaisercraft one and another type of Fiskars trimmer but this is the official one used by SU. I only bought the Oval All stamp set #116877, Sense Of Time stamp set #116885, Tree Trimmings stamp set #116893 and Kind Heart single stamp for the back of cards I wish to sell #116681. All these stamps sets can be found in the current Spring Mini. So if you wish to order any of these supplies or any other SU product please contact me on my email listed on my blog. Prompt service guaranteed.

So once I unpacked the box and put things away after stroking the designer papers and mounting all the stamp sets I could not wait to ink the Sense Of Time set #116885 up. I stamped the clock onto Whisper White but then used Distress Ink and I was only going to do the borders but decided to change the look all over and I love how it turned out. The grid paper in the background was a free download from the Kaisercraft site and it was a whole bundles including papers etc. I then stamped the clock workings from the set Sense Of Time on the grid paper. I used my brand new SU Spiral punch #108341 which I am in total love with lol and the sentiment is a Hostess level one set called Best Yet and it has some great sentiments in assorted fonts. I punched it out using my new Designer Label punch #107590. The background paper is Cosmo Crickets Earth Love 6 x 6 paper pad another fav of mine. I put this all onto my fav cardstock SU Kraft.

Let me know what you think of the finished card. I made this just because I wanted to and had so much fun doing it. Okay I am off to finish my daughters photo album to send over to England for her husbands sisters children whom they hope to bring out to Australia to live with them.

365 Cards - #211 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Today over at 365 Cards it is Super Sketchy Sunday and the sketch we are to follow is below.

I put this one together in no time at all using the leftovers from my 6x6 piece of June Bug paper from Basic Grey. I don't want to waste a precious piece of it lol. I meant to put this up last night but by the time we got home from my daughters place where we had dinner I was far too tired and was in bed by 10pm!!!! Heaven forbid me in bed by that time!!!!!! This is unheard of unless I am sick and yes I did have a little headache lol. Now here it is 4.15am the next day and I have had enough sleep . . . .well my knees have anyway that I decided to get up and do the post now. Ok girls that is all from this neck of the woods. . .man is it cold this morning, gosh I know it is Spring but geez it feels like winter.

365 Cards - #199 - Shape Up!

Over at 365 Cards today the challenge was to use a hexagon as the dominating shape on your card. I very nearly did not want to do it lol and went to bed stewing on it so I was up at 6am this morning checking out everyone elses entries and I thought if they can then I can so I got to it and made my card. I know it is later than it normally would be up here but at least it is up here. I ummed and ahhed about what papers and then what image etc etc and I want to say this is the first time I have procrastinated over those things as normally I choose paper and cardstock immediately and the image comes last but I could not seem to get it together for this one . . .thanks Pam lol!!

The components look crooked in this image but I can assure they aren't. I think it was the angle that I took it perhaps. Anyway that is it for the day for me.

365 Cards - #197 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Super Sketchy Sunday over at 365 Cards today and what a sketch it is. Take a look below and see what I mean. I immediately thought of a football when I saw the image (sorry Pam) so I chose to make my oval a scallop oval so it didn't look like a football lol.

Then to add some texture I Cuttlebugged it with the Swiss Dots folder and the band over the top is Cuttlebugged with the Victorian folder. The May Arts vintage flowers are a gift from Sherry in that RAK I received a while ago now and this is the first time I have been able to bring myself to use some. I have been coveting again. . .*hangs head* I cannot seem t help myself from saving them for something special lol. I mean every card should be special or at least that is what I tell myself when I continue to covet all my lovelies lololol but tonight it was the first time it worked hehe.

I hope you enjoy my card tonight and now I am about to do another post with a challenge for the Colour Throwdown blog. This will be my first one for that challenge blog.

365 Cards - #193 - Card Recipe & Paper Blooms - B.L.I.N.G.

Today over at 365 Cards the challenge was a card recipe and our card had to be a 5x5 card with 4 x designer papers, 3 x blossoms, 5 rhinestones, 1 x stamp or digi image and 1 x sentiment of our choice. I completed the challenge but then realised that I had used a different paper for the side panel down the right side of my card. I was talking to my daughter at the time of making this card and she had just gotten her first job. Yes I know she is nearly 21 yrs old but she has mental health issues which have always held her back. Bipolar disorder and an anxiety disorder can be quite challenging to deal with when you are young. But she managed to turn herself around and get this job and she is moving out with her partner in the next two weeks so I am so so proud of her for these big achievements. I am going to miss my little grandaughter but I will get to babysit her when Ash goes to work yay!!!!. Okay so I digress a bit. . . anyway I was talking to Ash and I picked up another designer paper from the DCWV paper stack and did not even realise that it was different until I had completed my card lol, so I am living on the edge with Gloria and Rose today for this challenge lol. This card also fits the Paper Blooms challenge this fortnight which is all about having B.L.I.N.G. on our card and my card certainly has that.

So here is my card for today. I hope you enjoy it.

365 Cards - #188 - Touchy, Feely Friday

It's Touchy, Feely Friday over at 365 Cards today! The specific challenge was to use felt or flocking on our card and since I was the proud owner of the DCWV Le Creme paper stack thanks to my bestie Sonya I was able to particapate. This paper stack has flocked sheets of 12x12 all the way through the stack so all I had to do was decide which one I wanted and I was away and running lol. The top section of my card has the flocked piece which is the dirty beige/greeny colour of the damask and the bottom piece is just plain, no flocking. I decided to use my favourite stamp set SU Friends 24-7 which has the damask stamp in it which went perfectly with the paper.

That is it for me today since it is rather late and I have to help my daughter tomorrow as we are having a birthday party for Lily which will be her first one. . .and it is a fairy party and everyone including the adults has to wear something glittery even the blokes.

365 Cards - #186 - Ad Inspired

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is ad inspired and Kristie has chosen the pic below to inspire us today. I am not quite sure if it is silver on the shoes because I cannot get a close enough look but I went with the silver, white, black and red and used the colours to inspire me.

This is my take on the challenge today using my brand new stamp set from SU that my bestie Sonya bought for me lol thanks so much Sonya I very much appreciate it and could not wait to ink it up.
I used silver pigment ink with my random butterfly stamp by PSX on the black base card and then I used the SU Weathered background stamp on my black background for the main butterfly. I know it looks busy but I really like the way it has turned out. Tell me what you think please?

Get Sketchy challenge #3

I am feeling a lot better today so I decided to branch out and do some other challenges and I had been meaning to do Get Sketchy's challenges since the beginning but you know sickness waits for nobody!!! So here it is the third challenge in and I am finally well enough to join in. This is the sketch that we were to follow this week.

And this is my interpretation of the above sketch. I hope you like it, it's a little different for me but I think I like it. The more I look at it the more I am digging it lol. Of course the sentiment is computer generated from my head (messy place that), that beautiful black lace and the butterfly stamp are from Sherry, (thankyou again Sherry).

Okay enough waffling for today. That is it from me.

365 Cards - #179 - Checkerboard Background

Today over at 365 Cards the challenge was to have a checkerboard background and how you embellish the card is up to you. So I did my checkerboard background and then I used these new Bella chipboard shapes that I bought a few weeks ago down in Uralla near Tamworth. This is the first time I have used them and I was itching to use the crown and could not wait any longer. I used Ranger distress ink on both the heart and the crown and then embellished it with Kaisercraft rhinestones.

Okay short and sweet today for you. Thanks to everyone for your well wishes I think the antibiotics are doing their job but I hate taking them.

365 Cards - #168 - Touch Of Toile

Today over at 365 Cards the challenge was Toile!!! I almost kicked the bucket on the spot!! What in the world was Toile???? Had absolutely no clues whatsoever, nada, zilch, zero, the big nought!!! So after sleeping on it or should I say sulking on it I decided to do what any self respecting card maker would do and went and did an image search on google. What I came up with was the print you now see on my card. No fuss no embellishments other than ribbon, just TOILE!! I thought the image was busy enough and effective enough to stand on it's own. So from a sheer panic to the finished product. . . .nice!! Now Pam you have to stop giving this girl a heart attack. . .you know I am getting over the flu, nothing to hard or strenuous, just nice and easy not TOILE!!!!!! Just kidding.

Okay now that I have that off my chest because I have other nasties taking prime position there, lol I am going over to my daughters today to spend some quality time with the grandchildren and my daughter of course.

365 Cards - #166 - Card Recipe

Today over at 365 Cards the challenge was a card recipe and your card had to be a 4 x 7 sized card, 3 x patterned papers, 5 x blossoms, wet embossing and had to include glitter. I was q uite happily making my card and then I thought I would put ribbon on between the two bottom patterned papers so I cut the slit on the left side of the card and placed the ribbon on and I thought Mmmm that looks great and then I realised that I was not supposed to have ribbon on it. . . .DOH!!!! So I had to remove it (but I will replace it once pics and post are done). I put glitter in the middle of each flower and the stamp set I used (a real cheapy one) I have had sitting in my stash for quite some months so I decided to ink her up. I used Ranger Distress inks in Black Soot and Fired Brick and then embossed them with clear embossing powder. I also edged the flowers in Black Soot. I used DCWV La Creme (my new one) paper stack. The flowers are Kaisercraft and the black shimmer cardstock is from my stash. Okay that is it and since I have virtually listed all my supplies in the post I will not bother with a supply list at the end.

The glitter glue is not quite dry but I was getting impatient to do my post so it will look better when they are dry. That is it for me. I want to thank everyone for all your well wishes and I gotta say that this is the first day in over a week that I have felt better than I have been. Still have little to no voice and no sense of smell or taste but don't feel so weak and queasy. This is good!!

365 Cards - #163 - Try A Technique - Masking

The challenge today over at 365 Cards is Try A Technique - Masking. I chose the SU Fifth Ave Floral for this technique. I also used my Derwent Watercolour pencils and the colour I chose for the pink coloured flowers was far too in your face and the more I tried to soften it the louder it got so I gave up in disgust. So I am warning you now to put your sunglasses on okay. The rest of the card is self explanatory but I will list it all the the supply list. I have no voice today and the family are loving it. My little baby grandaughter, Sophie keeps looking at me weirdly as if to say "why do you sound so different Nanny?" lol. Okay I am off to bed now that my card is done.

365 Cards - #159 - Setting The Scene - Indoors

Today over at 365 Cards the challenge was to set the scene indoors. So our card had to have an interior scene on it. I went into a flat panic as I did not have one stamp I could have said that was in any way shape or form an inside stamp lol. So I did what any normal stamper would do in this situation and went shopping online for a digi stamp. I found my image at SquiggleFly. I decided to paper piece it and man was that a mistake. Talk about fiddley lol I am getting the flu again so I am not feeling well AGAIN!!!! I tell you I never used to get sick at all and very rarely got a cold or flu but this year I have been sick with one or the other 4 or 5 times. We have the Swine Flu in our town too so I am worried about that. Anyway on with the days card hey. You all don't pop over to hear my woes I'm sure heehee. Below is my card and that is all I can say about it because I am not happy with the result other than the jolly flower in the right corner lol. I paper pieced the lounge and the little girls dress. The rest I coloured with my Derwent watercolour pencils.

Okay because it is so late I am finished for the night as it is now 1.56am here in Australia.

365 Cards - #155 - Super Sketchy Sunday

This is the sketch for 365 Cards today because it's Super Sketchy Sunday!!!! I didn't get to make my card last night as I went to bed rather early. Getting up in winter for the Sunday markets is a killer and at minus 5 degrees celsius I could not warm up until at least 11am. Could not feel my feet or hands and I swear my nose had a permanent tap attached to it heehee. The market is the first one of the month out of two markets for our area and this is one was considered to be the smaller market of the two. I did really well and sold several of my new pieces which I was thrilled about. Then along came Tess from The Dust Jacket in town (the local book store) and she was oohing and aahing over my stuff as was her teenage daughter. They purchased some pieces and Tess asked me if I would be interested in bringing some of my beautiful cards and my vintage journals that I make down to the shop to sell. I mean, come on people do I have silly written across my forehead? No? Well that's because I am not silly lol and I jumped at the opportunity to have my stuff put into her shop to sell. So this week I will take a whole selection of cards and journals down town to display in The Dust Jacket for sale.. . .yay!!! Then to top it off about 8-10 women are very keen to do my vintage journal class commencing in two weeks!!! How is that for a successful day? Okay enough of my life stuff let's get onto the card.

This is my take on the sketch above. I hope you like it as much as I do. I used some of my brand new Kaisercraft flowers that my bestie picked up on her trip to Sydney for training this past week and delivered to me at the markets yesterday. We share a market stall together lol. I think that is it for me until later on today when Monday brings a whole new week of challenges for us to complete.

365 Cards - #147 - Scraplift Saturday

Well today over at 365 Cards the challenge is Scraplift Saturday and the specific challenge: Select a card from one of the design team members to scraplift. It does not have to be a card that was done for a 365 Cards challenge, but you need to be sure to provide the card or link the the card that you are scraplifting. I loved this card that Gloria did so I decided to scraplift her card.

Now this is my interpretation of Gloria's card. I didn't have any tulle so I went with black and white ribbon instead and the silk flowers on Gloria's card well again I didn't have those so I made my own as well as the leaves.
I am so looking forward to seeing what others have chosen to scraplift and from which designer. That is it for me today/tonight. I have all the family coming over tomorrow for a Roast dinner so I need to get myself organised.

365 Cards - #146 - Mirror Me

Today over at 365 Cards the challenge was to create a symmetrical card and the only thing that does not have to be symmetrical is the sentiment. . . .crap I only put one ribbon on my card and do you know what I am not re-doing it lol because I am tired and in pain and I love it the way it is hehehehe The stamp is from my new Tim Holtz set which I won on EBay. Isn't it beautiful?. . *deep sigh* I don't think I have said how much I love the Timster lately but I do hehehe. The papers are from Daisy Bucket and I only got them today and had to use them straight away.

Okay that is it for me tonight, I've got a nice comfy bed just callin' my name. . .it's saying "Shell come on come and lay down" God I crack me up sometimes lol.

365 Cards - #144 - You Raise Me Up

Today over at 365 Cards the challenge is 'You Raise Me Up' and we have to try an incorporate two ways to add dimension to your card. So I decided to pop the layers up off the card base using rather high pop dots and then I added the popped star as an embellishment. I also added the pearls to the image I used which adds extra dimension as well. Sorry the image is a little hazy and I have no clues as to why it is like that!

I had started making this card nearly two weeks ago but had only done the card base with the Kraft trim on the side and that was it and I didn't want to waste it so today was the day that it got completed lol. Orange is a fav colour of mine. When I used to have my business as a qualified Aromatherapist/massage practitioner my clinic colours were purple and orange and it always looked fantastic together. (Just off topic a bit there folks, we will return to normal viewing directly). Okay that is it for me today/tonight for us Australians in the Southern Hemisphere.

365 Cards - #142 Movie Monday

It is Movie Monday over at 365 Cards today and the challenge is a fav of mine because the series of books and movie are an absolute fav. . . The Twilight Series. I was so excited when I saw what the challenge was today and knew exactly what I was going to do. Now the heart on my card represents the beating or in Edwards case the non beating of a heart lol. The scalloped piece missing from the bottom is of course a bite lol hence the sentiment 'Bite Me'. I smudged around the white cardstock but outlined the bite mark in red. . .you know the story of a vampire etc etc etc. What an awesome series of books. I could not put them down.

Okay because it is so late that is all from me tonight.
