365 Cards - #92 Super Sketchy Sunday

Super Sketchy Sunday over at 365 Cards today and the layout was this. . .

And this is what I created based on that sketch.  I finally played with my new Cricut cartridge which is Storybook and I think I am in love lol.  It does sooooo much!!  When I cut the owl out and put it together I placed it on the card and then decided that the owl had to be a girl so a piece of coloured cord had to go on to achieve the girl look hehehe.  Oh I am going to have so much fun with this cartridge and the other one I got from my youngest daughter was Hello Kitty.  So now my total amount of cartridges is 3.  They are so expensive here I cannot afford to buy too many.  I hope you are all enjoying your weekend ours is over here in Australia as it is now Sunday night at approximately 11.01pm as I type this post.  But next weekend is the Queens birthday weekend so we get a long weekend yay!! That will mean possibly another day down at stamp camp depending on whether my daughter Courtney can get the extra day away from the children. . .fingers crossed.
Well that is it for this evening so . . .

365 Cards - #90 "I See Your 'Two' Colours"

Over at 365 Cards for today's challenge it is "I See You Two Colours" which means that you can only have two colours on your card but black image and white cardstock will be accepted on top of your two colours (Can't stop singing Cyndi Lauper lol). Well at first I thought it was going to be hard but then I realised that when you add two more colours to the black and white you can create something really nice besides the obvious black and white card.  From there it was all smooth sailing lol.  I got my two new Cricut cartridges today one is Storybook (OMG so many things I can do) and the other was Hello Kitty.  I have not had a chance to play properly yet as I have been taking care of my 11 month old grandaughter (long story, too detailed to go into here) and will be doing that 3 days a week between 7am and 5pm to give my youngest daughter some time to herself as she is not coping too well being a mum, enough said for now.  But wait until you see what I create within the next couple of weeks.  I must tell you that next Thursday through to Sunday I will be away at a stamp camp with my eldest daughter, I have so much fun at these camps, so I won't be able to keep up with the challenges and by the time I get back the cut off will be over for that week to submit entries.  Anyway, getting tired now so without any further procrastination from me here is my entry for today.  Oh nearly forgot I will get yesterdays done before the cut off time I just have to get a break from babysitting and I will be right.  Okay on with the card now.

This pic is of my youngest daughter Ashleigh and her daughter Sophia who is the one I am caring for 3 days a week.  Aren't they beautiful.

This one was of Soph getting into one of my stash drawers which holds all of my old stamps from years ago.  But first she had to take the stamps out and here she is halfway through that process lol.  I kept trying to get her to look at me but she would quickly turn to me and then grin and turn back around so I took so many blurry ones I gave up hehe.  This is what Soph does when I am on the computer. . . pull all my old stamps out onto the floor.  That is it for me. . .

365 Cards - # 88 Quite A Pair

The challenge today over at 365 Cards is Quite A Pair and we had to design an Anniversary card or an Engagement Congrats, anything else goes but NO Wedding cards!  At first I thought great I am just about to complete a wedding card for my bestie that she had ordered, and then I read on but NO Wedding cards. . .well that took the wind out of my sails didn't it?  After that I just sat for a while staring at the window like I usually do, as if that will show an image of what I need lol.  I decided on the colour scheme and the rest just fell into place.  The main image was stamped in Baja Breeze with the flower sprig from the set stamped over a section with Blue Bayou as well as the Congratulations in Blue Bayou.  The card is a 5 x 5 for a change.   I meant to emboss the 5 petal flower but I forgot.   All done and dusted within 3/4 of an hour. . not too bad.

I so hope Mr Linky is not playing games tonight and I can load my card up with no worries.  That's me for another night but. . .

365 Cards - # 87 The "Eyes" Have It

The challenge today over at 365 Cards is The "Eyes" Have It and we have to use the word "eye" somewhere on our card.  My daughter Courtney came up with this idea as she knew I had the sheep stamp in my stash from years ago lol so I decided to run with it.  The colours I have chosen for my card, I absolutely love.  They are SU colours and both are this years new In Colours being Riding Hood Red and Tangerine Tango.  I love them together.  Every card I have seen with these two colours have been absolutely stunning.  So today I decided to use them.  The sentiment is computer generated of course.  Well that's it for me today I am sick and tired of Blogspot causing everything to move at snails pace.  I seem to waste so much time waiting for pages to turn and I have to keep re-loading them over and over again. . .it is sooooo frustrating!!

Paper Blooms Challenge #8 - Red, White & Blue

Over at Paper Blooms the challenge this week was red, white and blue but you did not have to be patriotic.  Well that is good because I do not have one patriotic stamp in my whole stash not even the oldies from 15 or so years ago.  So since our flag here in Australia is also red, white and blue I chose to use those colours and the sentiment is fits as our soldiers are always on my mind and forever in my heart being an ex soldier myself.  So for me it fitted perfectly.  Anyway here is my card for this week.  That's it for me until my card for 365 Cards tonight.

365 Cards - #86 This Will Be Grape Fun!!

The second day of the Cutting Cafe week over at 365 Cards.  The challenge today was to either use grapes on your card or use purple as your primary colour and include at least five circles on your card.  At first I was having difficulty deciding what to do and then I had a great idea and this is the result.  I don't mind it actually.  Also seeing as purple is my favourite colour along with orange I had no trouble coming up with the colour purple lol (I crack me up. . . get it? The Colour Purple) hehehe.  The designer paper was from my stash and one of the first papers I ever got so it is unknown brand.  Anyway that is me for today.

365 Cards - #85 Super Sunday Sketch

Well it is Super Sunday Sketch and I know I am very late with mine but I thought we had to use one of the Cutting Cafe digi images so even though I didn't have a lot of money I purchased the cupcake images which in US dollars was 6.99 and in AUS dollars they were nearly 10 dollars so that was a bit of a shock lol.  I thought I would get them straight away but I did not get them until this morning which is Monday morning and then when I went to upload my pic my camera battery was flat so I have patiently waited for that to charge.  Now, finally, I have uploaded it.  So here is my take on the sketch over at 365 Cards for this Sunday.  I paper pieced the cupcake which is a first for me lol. Once again sorry it is late well late for me anyway lol.

365 Cards - #84

The challenge today over at 365 Cards was to follow a recipe which was set down by Pam and that was to have a 3 x 3 card base, 1 x flower, 1 x brad, 1 x piece of ribbon, 1 x stamped sentiment and NO PATTERNED PAPER!
Now I gotta say that this is the single most boring card I think I have ever made.  I was almost to ashamed to put it up here, but rules is rules and I had to follow the recipe.  So here it is.

I am off to watch a movie with my husband now.  I hope everyone had fun making this one, she's a beauty lol.

365 Cards - #83 Make It Match

Today is the calm before the storm over at 365 Cards lol.  Apparently we are going to have two easy days and then look out hehe.  The challenge for today is to make it match as in your card has to have a matching envelope, any size as long as they matched.  So even though it is late here I had to go with this one (because I was not happy with it) as I am official babysitter to my 11mth old grandaughter this weekend and I have to get to bed hehehe instead of staying up until 3am or the likes, making cards and fiddling about.  One needs their beauty sleep.  These colours that I have used go together apparently according to a SU colour blending chart I used for the new in colours.  When I looked at them altogether they looked fine but now they don't.  Never mind it has to be today.  So without further ado here is my card with the matching envelope in the second pic.  I am off to bed now enjoy the rest of your day in the USA and for us here is Australia see you tomorrow lol.

365 Cards - #82 Living On The Edge

Over on 365 Cards today the challenge was 'Living On The Edge' and you had to embellish and or decorate three sides of your card.  So that is exactly what I did.  I used the 5th Avenue Floral from SU and the sentiment is also SU but is from the Cheep Talk stamp set. I still managed to use my new Distress Inks from Ranger cause I really could not make a card now without them lol sad I know.

Before I end this post I just wanted to say a huge thankyou to everyone who makes lovely comments on my blog.  Trust me when I say that I don't give of myself easily but this group as some of us have said lately makes one feel like part of a family. . . does that sound soppy?  Too bad lol.    I value each and every comment that is made and each one makes my heart light.  So many thanks to each and every one of you. I occasionally go onto to other bigger challenge blogs but the feeling isn't there like here.  The design team here are fantastic girls and very encouraging to all of us.  Thanks everyone.  Well that's me and I got in extra early today lol.

365 Cards - #81 It's Hip To Be Square

Well maybe it is hip to be square. . .I wouldn't know for sure lol.  That is the challenge over on 365 Cards today.  And you had to include five (5) squares somewhere on your card.  After yesterday and "PLAID" this was going to be a breeze or so I thought.  When I finished the card I sat gazing at it cause I do that sometimes trying to figure out if I could change anything and it looks to me as if something is missing but I cannot for the life of me figure out what.  So because I could not think what was missing I decided to just put it up on my blog.  The background paper was left after I made a vintage journal today for my market stall so I decided to continue on with the paper.  I have used the paper to make a travel journal in the past and the first day I put it up on my stall it sold within 10 minutes.  So I am hoping that the next one will sell as quick.  I will post a pic of the finished journal when it's ready.

This pic shows another finished journal and box that I completed today also which is for an order that I received at last weeks market.  I quite like this journal.  It's using SU designer paper Tea Party which is really pretty.  The young teenager that ordered it for her friends birthday this weekend said that the journal was going to be for a dancer so the words are encouraging words.  I think she will like it.  The little box is going to keep her friends hair things in it or jewellery I think she said. Anyway that's it for me tonight.

365 Cards - #80 Your'e So Plaid

PLAID. . .PLAID You say!!!!  Hell I don't have any plaid lol.  It's not a common one for Australia, back me up Fi!!!  I was a desperate woman.  I searched high and low for something that would resemble PLAID!!!  I sat at my work station sulking %$#*& PLAID.  I folded my arms and said to my husband I'm not doing it.  His response was "Well Shell, you not up for the challenge hey?"  It was like waving a red rag to a bull hehehe.  I sat for a while longer wondering what I was going to do and I glanced over at my watercolour pad then glanced at my Derwents and Eureka!!!!!  A lightbulb moment for sure.  I would make my own PLAID!  It's not very good PLAID but it will pass muster.  I couldn't even manage to rule the lines straight lol but I completed the challenge. . .day 80 DONE!  Have mercy on me it's late at night over here.

I used three colours on making the plaid but it seemed so much better in my mind.  Strange thing that.  I am trying to get a whole week in without missing a day but Pam you are making it difficult.  Did I say I love challenges?  I must be crazy.  Well that's me for the day I hope to gaze at all the other wonderful creations over at 365 Cards

365 Cards - #79 My Fav Manufacturer

It's Monday evening for me so it must be day time for those of you who reside in the Northern Hemisphere lol.  Today's challenge over on 365 Cards was to make your card using your favourite manufacturer.  So if you know me you will know that I would choose anything that The Timster (Tim Holtz) masterminds.  I think he is THE MOST outstanding creative man that our field has ever seen.  My husband thinks I am in love with him lol.  I think I am old enough to be his mother. . . no scrap that maybe his older sister hehehe.  I FINALLY got my Ranger order today after waiting for over eight weeks.  Long story.. . briefly my daughter, Ash and I went halves in getting the whole range of Distress Inks and the craft mats, the whole range of alcohol inks, applicators etc but it has taken us a while to gather the funds together hence the eight weeks.  Today they came!!!  We were too excited for sure.  So in honour of the man himself I created my card using Distress Inks and my very own (and only one) Tim Holtz stamp set which I just won on ebay.  Vintage all the way for me baby!!  That's not to say that I won't be creating other cards as well but I have been waiting soooo long for my stuff to arrive that I will be stampin', creatin' and doin' the happy dance for a long while to come.  Oh did I tell you I was excited. . . .yes I think I did but just in case you didn't read it earlier I had better say it again. . .I am sooooo excited about having my distress inks, I could die happy now lmao.
Now onto the card itself.  As I said I used Tim Holtz Lost and Found stamp set from Stampers Anonymous with some of my tea-dyed lace and just in the top right hand corner there is an acrylic overlay from a vintage set I have had for a while and now I have had the chance to use some of it as I thought it suited perfectly.  The way the image came out is the way it is supposed to come out apparently.  I took eight jolly photos tonight trying to get a good one but every image seemed to be blurry and I am too tired to go get the manual to find out why so I chose the best of a bad lot.  Anyway that's my creation for this Monday.  Looking forward to seeing what everyone else creates.

365 Cards - #78

It is Sunday today another week over. Over on 365 Cards it is Super Sketchy Sunday and this was the sketch we had to follow

This is what I came up with.

I didn't get to complete the challenge yesterday as it was Market Day today and I have to get stock ready on the Saturday.   So although I wanted to play I didn't get the time.  Therefore I am getting in early for today because the markets are over now for another fortnight.  It was an excellent market today. . . the sun was shining although a bit cold, there were heaps of people attending.  The people were really lovely today and there were a lot from out of town.  I mean I live in a country town with 12,000 people and it is Sapphire country so we get a lot of fossickers throughout the year.  The sales were really good too!!  All the cards I make for the challenges I sell on my stall hehe so at least I have plenty to sell working on a different one each day. My card was nice and simple today which I don't normally do I like technical stuff and plenty of layers but I had to go with the sketch. . . nice and clean.  Well I had better go and cook dinner for the fam.

365 Cards - #76

The challenge for today at 365 Cards was to "Keep the embellishments to the corners of the card" and they had to be in each corner of the card, not to leave any corner bare and only paper, stamped images or anything printed directly onto the cardstock was allowed in the middle of the card.  So here is my entry for today.  I really like this one.  I showed my husband and at the time I only had the 24-7 sentiment on it with the pics and he said what is the card for.  So I tried explaining it to him and then I went and showed it to my youngest daughter (20) and Ash said it's lovely Mum but what's it for.  Doh &%#*. . . so back to the stamping station I went and I chose 'thinking of you' from Trendy Trees to add to it as well. I really love the Always stamp set and in particular the beautiful bird image. It looks fantastic no matter what colour you stamp it in.  Well since I got it in early I think I might just make some stuff for the sheer pleasure of it.

365 Cards - #75 "Imagine This"

Another day on the challenge blog of 365 Cards and today's challenge is "It's another Imagine This" challenge, and you can either use an image of coffee (cup, beans, etc) or let an image of it inspire your card.  I had a little panic for a bit as I mentally went through my stamps. . . no I definitely did not have any coffee inspired stamps in my stash.  I thought bugger!!!!!  Then I had a light bulb moment and nearly gave myself an upper cut because I had this vintage Hero Arts stamp set called Buon Appetito and there are all kinds of little treasures in there like a bag of groceries, a pizza, a casserole pot, a tossed salad, wineglass and bottle, mixed pasta and tomatoes and those two on my card.  Again I have had them for over 15 years.  I can't say I like the card at all because I don't but it was all I had in my stash.  So here it is.

Creative Space Thursday

Well it is that time of the week again. . .you guessed it, it is Creative Space Thursday.  I have been busy all week making cards etc now that my business course has finally finished.  I have got so many ideas running around in my head as to what to have to offer for sale.  I really think I may just focus on vintage MOST of the time  because I absolutely adore the whole concept and look of vintage and always have.  Today I just wanted to make a card that I would love to receive.  I purchased this antique March Music book from an antique store in Uralla a couple of weeks ago for the purpose of cutting it up for my artwork.  I spotted this flower in my blog perving and quickly wrote down the instructions for it but for the life of me I cannot remember where I saw it but if I do I will edit this post to give credit where it is due.

I used my oval punch to cut out the 'petals' of the flower from the antique music paper

Next I used a sponge dauber and More Mustard stamp pad to give that aged look around the edges of each petal.

Then on top of the More Mustard I used Really Rust to complete the vintage look.  (I am still waiting patiently for my Tim Holtz Distress Inks to arrive, which will hopefully be tomorrow)

Then for the inner flower I ran some Coordinations cardstock through the Cuttlebug using the Swirls embossing folder

Then I sanded the embossed image as the inner core of the cardstock is a different colour

And I put the flower together and then created my card.  I so love it.  The scripted paper is from Making Memories and suited this card to a tee I thought.  I finally got to use my SU Life Definations stamp set which is fantastic.  And the finishing touch in the middle of the flower is a decorative button which cost $1 each so I may just have to get some more as I have used the two I had in my stash.  That was my creative space for this week and if YOU would like to play along or just visit other beautiful spaces pop on over to Kootoyoos blog to see them or play yourself. . . go on you know you want to!!

365 Cards - #74

It's Wednesday evening here. . .late lol and I just finished my card so I thought I had better get it up here before I nod off hehehe and that is because I am on serious pain medication for my right knee, have to have a knee replacement on both knees but right one is worse after having fallen at work about eight years ago. . . .are you yawning yet lol!!  I really wanted to use my Trendy Trees set as it has been calling my name from the pile of new sets I got out of the 2009-2010 catalogue. . .but I had some trouble lining them up with the stamp-a-ma-jig as you can see.  It is really difficult to see the image on the plastic sheet so next time I will stamp it in black only on the sheet.  That is a tip for you Vicky if you get the set lol.  Also I didn't have Sunshine Yellow so I used More Mustard instead on the middle tree.  I was only going to put Hello as the sentiment but I thought what the heck in for a penny in for a pound!!  So without further ado here is my card for 365 Cards where today the challenge was to hand write your sentiment.

I am off to bed now so. . .

365 Cards - #73 and Cafe Mojo -Mocha Mojo Friday

It is Tuesday evening here in NSW Australia and you can certainly tell that winter is just around the corner. . .I love winter after the awful heat of the summer!!!  I killed two birds with one card again which doesn't happen too often.  If I had made my card pink, black and white I would have killed three birds with one card. . . never mind.  For 365 Cards the challenge was Tuesday Trio and your card had to include Circle, Scallops and Bling.  I think I filled the bill here and for Cafe Mojo it was about tools: stamps and the sentiment was a stamp from my new SU set Trendy Trees.  So there you have it. The card is over large not sure on the measurements as I picked up some cardstock and said to myself that it looked good enough to use the way it was and off I went lol.  The designer paper is from Creative Memories which I have had in my stash for over 12 months now so I thought it was time I used some of it.  The large flower in the middle I learnt just recently how to do it and you have to have two pairs of hands hehe when you make it. . . quite comical to watch let me tell you.
Well that is all from me for the evening.

365 Cards - #72 Musical Monday

The challenge today on 365 Cards was use a sheet of music, "musical paper", or music notes on the card. So the only musical thing I had was a Cuttlebug embossing folder 'Allegro' and that is exactly what I used for this challenge.  I made up the sentiment and printed it out on the computer in chocolate coloured ink.  Simple and direct that's my 'Musical Monday'  and here it is.

My post is short and sweet for a change instead of long and drawn out lol.  Please enjoy!

Paper Blooms Challenge #6 - Women Of Influence

It is challenge #6 at Paper Blooms this week and the subject is "Women of Influence" and that could be your mother or a woman in your life that means something special to you.  Well I have chosen my best friend Sonya who means the world to me and I don't tell her enough.  If she could she would move the world for me or my daughters.  She has stepped up to the plate on countless occasions when I needed her to and does not expect anything in return.  These people are rare indeed and I know that I have discovered a very rare gem and I do treasure her as do my girls. . . thankyou Sonya for being who you are.  (She does read my blog on occasion so I hope she sees this entry)

This card was an order for someone for her friend to say thankyou and all the criteria she gave me was that she loves autumnal colours.  I hope I have managed to encapsulate those colours.  I have used the faux metal effect on this card. . .lots of embossing!!!  I have also Cuttlebugged the background and then sanded the cardstock which is co'ordinations cardstock.  I really like how it turned out.  Anyway please enjoy.

365 Cards - #71 F.I.N.A.L.L.Y.!!!

It has been a long long week finishing my business plan so I can complete the Small Business Management course and pass.  60 pages later and it is all handed in and now I can get on with starting my business. . . yay!!!!  I was going to catch up on all of last weeks challenges but I could not seem to get my act together as I think I was a bit brain dead after completing my course lol.  I did however, finish last Sundays sketch so I thought I would show you that and then directly underneath it is todays challenge.  It certainly will not be that long again let me tell you, it's too hard to catch up.  Last night I went to bed around 10pm and was woken at about 2.30am by my 11 month grandaughter Sophie crying. (She is teething so badly) Ashleigh my daughter had been up nearly all night up until that point so I took over but the problem was I had to get up at 5am to get ready for the markets.  Consequently I did not get back to bed.  I honestly don't know how I am keeping my eyes open to do this post but I vowed and declared to my family that not another sleep was going to go past without me completing a 365 Card challenge hehehe  So no more waffling and here they are. . . last Sundays and this Sunday together.

I'm not sure if I like this card or not and I will blame it on being tired lol that is my story and I'm sticking to it.  I hope you enjoy my cards so until next time hopefully when I have had more sleep. . .

Awfully Big Art Adventure Photo Challenge

Well I decided to go in for this challenge this time around as I liked the photo that was supplied for it and I wanted to have a play with beeswax as a coating.  I put some antique music sheet from a marching music book that I got from an antique store onto the background and lucky for me it had the title of "The Little Widow" which I thought suited it so I wanted to get the title into the frame. I printed the pic out onto copy paper and then just used my Stampin' Up! ink pads in Real Rust, More Mustard and a Versacolour in Beige Sand and used a sponge dauber to apply it all.  I stamped a butterfly with black Staz On onto an overhead projector sheet and cut around it.  I then used Kindy Glitz Gold to highlight some sections and my white SU gel pen to add some differing highlights.  I have used Tim Holtz photo corners and an unknown tag embellishment and lastly I coated the whole piece with melted natural unrefined beeswax.  I really like how it turned out.  I might have to make another one very soon lol.

That's it for now.

Creative Space Thursday

Well today is Creative Space day and for me it wasn't so creative as I have spent the whole week doing my business plan for my course so I can get the NEIS Scheme approved.  I have done so much work on it and then yesterday I thought I lost it all and nearly wept tears of blood.  My computer decided to crack a spat.  I found the financial section to be the most difficult to complete.  I had 8 financial tables to complete - Personal cash flow, income and expenditure, depreciation schedules, sales mix and balance sheets.  Today I handed it in. . . what a huge relief!!!!  So without further ado here is my space for today and it will not be like this again unless I am doing the books in the future lol.

Taxation for small business. . . .gotta do it!!

This is my resource folder with all the info required to complete a business plan.

This is the first page of my business plan. . . it was 26 pages long!!

This is the front cover of my resource folder.  At the end of the training you come away with a Cert IV in Small Business Management. . . not too bad hey??  So if you want to check out other creative spaces and I'm positive that they will be more creative than mine lol then pop on over to Kootoyoo's blog and check them out, I certainly will.

Paper Blooms Challenge #5

Well this is my first time on Paper Blooms thanks to two of my fav people on another challenge blog, Rose and Fi *smiles*  I came over to have a look and like what I saw ie. the inspiration for each challenge.  So I decided to give it a go.  I really love Leah's everyday dinner set it is absolutely gorgeous!! I used an old stamp from my stash of over 15 years ago and it is a PSX stamp, still just as lovely today as what it was all those years ago.  The idea was to take inspirtion from Leah's dinner set to create a piece of art whether that be 3D or card or scrapbooking.  So here is my first challenge for this blog. . . I hope you enjoy what I have created.

This was the inspiration. . . .

And this was my take on it.  Until next time. . .

365 Cards - #62

I know I'm late today but it was so sick with this horrible bug that I cannot shift no matter what I do.  I think it's just a continuation of what I had but now it has turned into a cold and we all have it in our home so there is plenty of coughing and spluttering lol.
Today's challenge had to include a number and the number had to signify the importance of the event so I chose to do a 21st birthday card.  This could be for a male or female and I went for sophiscated so I hope I pulled it off.  I also used my Cricut to cut the numbers out and I should have used the jolly thing the other night when I was looking for the word 'WHAT' but I forgot all about it. . .duh!!!  So this is my card for #62 please enjoy.
